21 Jun Marco Gallotta // A unique combination of graphic sensibility and artisan skill
Born and raised in the Campania region of South-western Italy, Marco Gallotta now lives and works in New York City. That word ‘work’ though, perhaps doesn’t do justice to the things he creates and how he makes his living.
Marco is a unique artist, one whose every experience has proved influential in his work.
Periods spent as an Alpine mountain guide, a Peddler in London and a street sports promoter across most of Europe have given him the ability to see people in a way that few others can, intimately. Body forms and physical features are key parts of his work. Natural and urban landscapes are also themes he has explored intimately.
Marco is an artist at the very top of his game. Painting, printmaking, drawing and paper cutting techniques are all tools in his formidable repertoire which the craftsman of today uses to impressive effect working with some of the world’s biggest brands and famous names.
He does that today, from a small intimate studio in Harlem, his vast experience in mixed media empowering him to craft drawings, paintings and prints with a unique combination of graphic sensibility and artisan skill.
